Autofill Tags FAQ

Standard tags come from a picker, you type advanced tags by hand, and every tag pulls one field from the transaction you're sending from. Answers to the common questions about which tags exist, calculations, and tags for fields you added yourself.

Where do I find the list of available tags?

Click [Add autofill tag] beside the subject or body and the full list opens. Start typing a field name to narrow it. Advanced contact and checklist tags aren't in that list — they're typed by hand, and both are documented on the Autofill Tags topic.

Can a tag add two fields together?

No — a tag pulls one field, exactly as it's stored. It doesn't calculate, combine, or reformat. If you want a combined figure in a message, enter the total into a single field and tag that field.

Why isn't my custom field showing up as a tag?

Check whether Pipeline already has a built-in optional field by that name. When one exists, a custom field with the same name doesn't generate a tag. Delete the custom field, turn on the matching optional transaction field in your company settings, and the tag appears.

Can I insert all my optional or contingency date fields at once?

No, each one has its own tag and goes in individually. Click [Add autofill tag], type the field name, and select it — once per field.

Is there a tag for today's date?

Yes. Start typing "Today" in the tag list and select it. It fills with the date the message goes out.

How do I autofill the property address?

Use the transaction name tag — that's where the property address lives. It works in the subject line as well as the body.

Can I autofill a contact who isn't in the tag list, like a closing attorney?

Yes, with an advanced contact tag. Any contact on the transaction can be pulled by their role, so {{contacts:Attorney:name}} reaches a role the picker doesn't carry. The role in the tag has to match the role on your contacts exactly.

Both buyers are on the deal, but only one name fills in. Why?

The buyer name tag pulls the single Buyer Name field. To get everyone, add each person as a contact with the Buyer role and use {{contacts:buyer:name}}, which pulls all contacts holding that role.

Can I use autofill tags in my email signature?

No, tags don't resolve from the signature field. Keep your static contact details in the signature and put the tagged, transaction-specific wording in the message or template body.

Autofill Tags let Pipeline do the typing. Drop a tag into a message template and the transaction's own details fill themselves in every time you send.
